Good morning

Good morning.... Busy day today for our family.... in just a bit I will be throwing a turkey into the oven for my grandmother's birthday celebration tonight.  I apologize for a lack of posts on Wednesday.  Wednesdays are one of those busy days for us.

Last night, while I was cooking dinner, the boys were playing with paint (inside a galloon zip lock bag).  This is a great craft / activity to teach about color blending, practicing writing letters, etc.  We then hung them up in the window to serve as a "stained glass" effect.  The kiddos loved them!  Try it with your kiddos when you need a short break or if you have rainy weather.

Dinner Tonight.... Hungarian Pork Stew

Well, the house is smelling pretty yummy right now!  Dinner is hungarian pork stew, served over rice and a salad on the side.  Yummy!

Hungarian Pork Stew

2 lbs. Pork meat, chopped for a stew
1/4 c olive oil (give or take to brown the meat)
1 med. onion
1 can tomato paste
3 T garlic salt
3 T savory seasoning
2 carrots, chopped
2 cans (4 cups) chicken broth (can also use veggie or pork broth)

Brown the meat in the oil, season with garlic salt and seasonings.  Add carrots, tomato paste, and onion.  Cover with water and turn heat down to simmer.  Simmer until the broth becomes thick.  Serve on its own, with a dallop of sour cream, or over rice.  Yummy with homemade bread or grilled cheese too.

Zone 4: Mission #3 Wednesday

Dear Friends:
Today is the day that you get a really short mission. The only thing you have to do is grab your feather duster or dust rag and dust off the tops of your door jambs and windows. I am short and don't really see the tops of these areas very often, so I have a tendency to forget about them. Take the duster or rag and wipe across the tops of the molding and jambs. Take a swipe across the hinges as well; they seem to collect little dusties as well. This is quick and easy and makes quite a nice difference.

My little guy's Letter

So, I have been searching and searching for over a year now to obtain the letters to my youngest son's name, without spending big $ (anything over $10 is big for me).... here's what I came up with as a craft project.  The oval says "May your life be filled with beautiful sunsets, great waves and sand between your toes."

Back at it again....

Well, I am back at the blogging business.... I love being a stay at home mom (something I never would have pictured before).  So here I am ... today's agenda so far... making letters for the kiddos bedrooms (photos to come soon), brining a turkey for my grandmother's birthday party tomorrow, laundry and general cleaning, and some quality time in the kitchen.

The other day I made a wonderful potato bread... if you want to try it out, here is the recipe... yummy!

Directions:

  1. 1
Add all ingredients to bread machine in order listed, or as recommended by your bread machine.
  2. 2
Select desired setting and press start.
  3. 3
I make this using the basic cycle and the lightest crust setting.
